Habitu vs Stamp Me: which is right for your restaurant in 2026?

Stamp Me is the best-known digital punch card, cheap, simple, fine for single-location cafés. Habitu is a guest growth platform for multi-location restaurant brands. Here's an honest comparison so you can pick the right one.

Stamp Me is the world's best-known digital punch card. Tens of thousands of small cafés, bakeries, and quick-service spots run it. It's cheap, simple, and does exactly what a paper punch card does — just on a phone. Habitu is a guest growth platform for multi-location restaurant brands that need segmentation, branded apps, campaign automation, and POS-integrated reporting. They're both called "loyalty software," but they solve different problems.

This is an honest comparison, written by the Habitu team. We'll tell you when Stamp Me is the better choice. (Spoiler: often, for single-location operators.)

What Stamp Me does well

Simplicity. Set up in under an hour. Staff understand it in one shift. Customers understand it instantly, it's a punch card.

Price. Stamp Me's published plans, retrieved 27 August 2026, are USD 49/month (Lite), 79 (Pro) and 199 (Elite), each for a single location. Tough to beat for a neighbourhood café.

No integration required. A single counter tablet and a customer phone. Works with any POS because it ignores the POS.

Low operational overhead. No campaigns to run, no segments to manage. The punch card does the work.

Where Stamp Me stops being enough

The moment you have more than one or two locations, more than one brand, or any ambition to market to your guests beyond "buy 9 get 1," the limits show up fast:

No POS integration. Stamps are manual or scanned at a tablet. Ticket value, items purchased, daypart, branch, none of it is captured against the guest profile. You know that they visited. You don't know what they ordered, how much they spent, or what they'd be likely to order next.

No segmentation. Every enrolled guest gets the same stamps and the same push messages. A dormant guest who hasn't visited in 90 days gets the same comms as your top champion.

No branded app. Guests sit inside the Stamp Me app alongside every other merchant on the platform. Your brand is a tile. For a single café this is fine. For a chain trying to build a direct channel, it's a strategic dead-end.

No real reporting. Stamp counts, redemption counts, and basic activity are all you get. LTV per guest, cohort retention, campaign ROI, segment movement, none of it.

What Habitu does that Stamp Me doesn't

POS-integrated guest data. Every Foodics / Square / Toast transaction attaches to a guest profile. You see what each guest orders, at which location, through which channel.

Automatic RFM segmentation. Six behavioural segments, re-scored nightly. Champions, loyal, promising, at-risk, needs-attention, dormant, targetable in one click.

Branded apps. Your own iOS + Android app, your own push channel, your own ordering funnel. Not a tile in a directory.

Campaign automation. Behaviour-triggered campaigns (second-visit nudge, dormant win-back, post-Ramadan bridge, etc.) with built-in attribution. The in-app inbox and email are the live send channels today; push and SMS can be composed and previewed but do not dispatch yet.

Multi-location and multi-brand. Guest identity unified across locations, reporting roll-ups by location, by brand, by region.

Price reality

Stamp Me: USD 49/79/199 a month for Lite, Pro and Elite, single location, per its published pricing retrieved 27 August 2026.

Habitu: mid-market pricing designed for 3-50 location chains. Order of magnitude higher than Stamp Me, order of magnitude lower than Punchh / Paytronix. See Habitu pricing.

Who should pick which

Pick Stamp Me if: you run 1-2 locations, your loyalty ambition stops at "buy 9 get 1," you want a weekend-launch solution, and you don't plan to build a direct-ordering channel.

Pick Habitu if: you run 3 or more locations, you want to know who your best guests are by name and spend, you want a branded app and direct-ordering funnel, and you plan to run segmented campaigns that measurably grow retention and frequency.

Both are legitimate choices for the problems they solve. The mistake is picking the wrong one for your stage, a 15-location brand using Stamp Me is leaving most of the value of their guest data on the floor, and a single-location café buying Habitu is paying for features they won't use for years.
