The conventional wisdom says launching a loyalty program takes 3-6 months. Enterprise vendors build that timeline into their pitch. Implementation teams, requirements gathering, IT integration, training... the process is designed for 200-location chains with dedicated CRM departments.
For a restaurant brand with 3-20 locations, that timeline is disqualifying. You need something that works in weeks, not quarters.
Week 1: Brand and program design
Define three things: your brand identity in the app (colors, logo, tone), your reward structure (points per AED spent, reward thresholds), and your enrollment method (QR code at counter, link on receipt, or both). This takes one 60-minute session with your team.
The app design should look like it was built specifically for your brand. Not a generic template with your logo slapped on top. Colors, typography, and reward copy should match the experience a customer has when they walk into your restaurant.
Week 2: POS integration
Connect your POS (Foodics, Square, or any system with an API). This is where most enterprise implementations stall for months. With modern API-first platforms, POS integration means an OAuth connection and automatic location mapping. Your team doesn't change any workflows. Transactions flow in, visits are tracked, points are earned. All automatic.
Week 3: Testing and staff training
Run the program internally for a week. Have staff enroll, scan QR codes, earn points, and redeem rewards. Find the friction. Training is minimal: "point them to the QR code at the counter." Staff training should take under 15 minutes per location because the system is designed to require zero staff intervention during normal operations.
Week 4: Soft launch
Go live at one location first. Monitor enrollment rates, point earnings, and any edge cases. After 3-5 days, if the numbers look right, roll out to all locations. You now have a branded customer channel with behavioral intelligence from day one.
What you have after 4 weeks
A branded consumer app on every customer's phone. Real-time visit tracking across all locations. Behavioral segments forming from actual data. And the ability to send targeted campaigns to specific customer segments, not blast your entire list with the same generic offer.
That's the difference between "we have a loyalty program" and "we know our customers." And it took 4 weeks, not 6 months.
